Industrial output decline in Ukraine accelerates to 5% in Oct y-o-y

The decline in industrial output in Ukraine in October 2019 accelerated to 5% year-on-year, after falling by 1.1% in September, that's without taking into account the calendar-day effect.

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine says output also fell 5% with the relevant adjustment to said effect.

Compared to the previous month, industrial output in October grew by 5.6% (without calendar-day effect), while falling 2.4% with such effect taken into account.

According to the statistics agency, the largest decline in annual terms was recorded in the production of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (15.4%), metallurgy (11.9%), textile (9.4%), furniture and other products (9%), as well as rubber and plastic products (6.4%).

In annual terms, growth was recorded only in three sectors: computer, electronic and optical products (28.7%), chemical industry (3.5%), and pharmaceuticals (1.3%).

The State Statistics Service recalled that the data excludes the occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as the occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the decline in industrial output in Ukraine in September 2019 in annual terms slowed to 1.1% after falling by 1.7% in August.

In 2018, industrial output in Ukraine grew by 1.1% after slowing 0.1% in 2017.
