Some 57.9% of Ukrainians show no support for free farmland market launch – poll

At the same time, 70.7% of Ukrainians are okay with legalization of amber mining.

More than half of Ukrainian citizens polled, that is, 57.9%, do not support Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's initiative to introduce a free farmland market in Ukraine.

These are the findings of a poll presented by Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation and the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) at a press conference in Kyiv on November 25, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

In particular, the initiative to open the farmland market and abolish the moratorium on its sale by the end of 2019 is supported by 23.9%. At the same time, 57.9% of Ukrainians oppose the idea, and another and 2.9% remain indifferent to the issue. Another 15.3% failed to answer.

When asked about their attitude to the president's decision to sell large-scale state-owned enterprises, 55.5% of respondents said they did not support the initiative, 22.5% backed it, and 4.4% remained indifferent, while another 17.5% failed to answer.

In addition, 49.3% of the polled citizens are not in favor of legalizing gambling, 37.6% of respondents are okay with gambling businesses, and 5.4% say they don't care. Another 17.5% failed to answer the question.

At the same time, 70.7% of Ukrainians support legalization of amber mining, 13.4% oppose the idea, while 5.2% remain indifferent. Another 10.6% failed to answer.

The survey was conducted in 110 settlements across Ukraine with the exception of Crimea and the occupied areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions on November 4-19. A total of 2,041 respondents were interviewed. The margin of error does not exceed 2.3%.
