Coins of the 5-hryvnia denomination, which will gradually replace the relevant banknotes, will be put into circulation on December 20, 2019.
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has announced the introduction of a number of new banknotes and coins in the 5-, 10-, 50-, and 200-hryvnia denominations in late 2019 and early 2020.
Coins of the 5-hryvnia denomination, which will gradually replace the relevant banknotes, will be put into circulation on December 20, 2019, Director of the NBU's Cash Circulation Department Viktor Zaivenko said at a briefing on November 26.
Moreover, the updated 50-hryvnia banknotes will be introduced on the same date, he said.

The National Bank will also issue the updated banknotes of 200-hryvnia denomination on February 25, 2019.
Furthermore, new 10-hryvnia coins will be put into circulation in the second quarter of 2020. The regulator is yet to announce the exact date.
