Ukraine has won an appeal on Russian Gazprom's first complaint against the decision of the Stockholm arbitration.

"Complete victory! Ukraine is winning again! We have won the appeal on the first complaint of Gazprom against the decision of the Stockholm arbitration!" Executive Director of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko wrote on Facebook, noting the details will come later.

The press service of Naftogaz told an UNIAN correspondent the appeal of Gazprom on a separate decision made in Stockholm on May 31, 2017 had been rejected. The relevant decision completely abolished the requirements of Gazprom regarding the provision of the "take or pay" contract, which frees Ukraine from the obligation to pay Gazprom $80 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in May 2017, the Court at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce issued a separate decision in the case of Naftogaz of Ukraine against Gazprom under a contract for the supply of gas to Ukraine since 2009.

In particular, the court completely rejected Gazprom's claim to apply the "take or pay" principle, as well as satisfied Naftogaz's demand to review the contract price taking into account market conditions.
