FDI in Ukraine grows to almost US$35 bln as of Oct 1

Top investors are those from Cyprus, the Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, and Germany.

The amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the economy of Ukraine (non-residents' equity capital) for January-September 2019 increased by US$1.8 million, or 5.5%, to US$34.7 billion as of October 1.

Over the period under review, new investment totaled US$1.7 billion, while almost US$1 billion was disinvested, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said on its website.

Positive reassessment totaled US$1.1 billion, it said.

Cyprus (US$761 million), the Netherlands (US$438 million), Russia (US$220 million), Switzerland (US$133 million), and Germany (US$90 million) ensured the highest growth of investment in Ukraine.

UNIAN memo. Foreign direct investment injected in the Ukrainian economy in 2018, according to the National Bank, amounted to US$2.5 billion. Of the amount, 60% was funneled into the real sector.
