Wage arrears in Ukraine grow by 9.5% in Oct

Wage arrears owed by enterprises in Ukraine to their employees increased by 9.5% in October 2019 compared to September 2019, to UAH 3.438 billion, or US$143.3 million, as of November 1, 2019.

In particular, debts owed to employees of operating enterprises as of November 1, 2019, amounted to UAH 2.282 billion, or US$95.1 million, which was 15.8% more than the debts as of October 1, Ukraine's State Statistics Service said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the minimum wage in Ukraine increased from UAH 3,723 (US$155.1), to UAH 4,173 (US$173.9) from January 1, 2019.

The average nominal wage of a full-time employee in Ukraine in October 2019 grew by 16.4% against October 2018, UAH 10,727 (US$446.96) per month. The National Bank expects a slowdown in wage growth in Ukraine, forecasting an increase in nominal wages by 16% in 2019 and by 10% in 2020, respectively, or by 7% and 5% in real terms.
