Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Serhiy Kholod says the regulator plans to increase the share of cashless transactions with payment cards from 50% to 55% by the end of 2020.

"The share of non-cash transactions by payment credit cards has already reached about 50%, which fully complies with the NBU plans, that is to reach a 55% share by the end of 2020," he said, as reported by the regulators' press service on Facebook on November 28.

According to Kholod, the expansion of contactless payment infrastructure and innovations, for example, the growing number of POS terminals and other such devices play a major role in popularization of cashless payments.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the National Bank offered the companies that use cash registers and engaged in trade, catering and rendering services to provide payment card holders with the opportunity to receive cash from such companies' cash desks. A draft of the relevant resolution was made public for discussion, which lasted until December 15.
