Ukraine's Cabinet to change CEOs of strategic state-run enterprises – energy minister

Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel has said the government made a political decision to change CEOs of all strategic state-owned enterprises and reshuffle their supervisory boards.

"A political decision was made to change the management and start competitions for all strategic companies, i.e. it is not a matter of one company or some kind of relationship between the minister and the head of the company. The decision concerns the reshuffling of supervisory boards and heads of strategic enterprises," he said at a briefing on December 2, commenting on the dismissal of President of Ukraine's national nuclear energy generating company Energoatom Yuriy Nedashkovsky.

According to the minister, the government has certain positions for each of the enterprises on which the decision is based.

"There are certain positions for each of these enterprises, based on their performance, efficient use of funds, as well as information on abuse of office by managers, including that from the media," he said.

Orzhel said only qualified specialists would participate in the competitions.
