"The Egyptian market accounted for 23% of [maize] supplies. Prices were important in this regard, as they were set at a fairly low level, thereby increasing the competitiveness of the Ukrainian grain in the world market and its attractiveness for importers," APK-Inform agency's press service said on December 2.

Other major buyers of Ukrainian maize in October were the Netherlands (over 290,000 tonnes), Spain (about 275,000 tonnes) and Turkey (over 180,000 tonnes).

Experts also forecast an 11.7% decline in the export potential of Ukrainian maize in the current marketing year (MY, July 2019 – June 2020) from MY 2018 – 2019, to 26.5 million tonnes.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian agribusinesses exported 24.39 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops from July 1, 2019, the start of the 2019-2020 marketing year, to November 29, 2019, which was 6.3 million tonnes up from the relevant period of MY 2018-2019.
