"To transfer [money], one doesn't need to know a card number of a recipient or install an additional app. You just transfer money while communicating with your friends and relatives via the same application," Director for Digital Products and Business Development at Mastercard in Ukraine Natalya Kangina said at the presentation of the service on December 3.

According to Kangina, Moneytou is available to all holders of payment cards of all payment systems.

Moreover, the current legislation allows using the service for money transfers between cards of not only individuals, but also entrepreneurs.

Outlining prospects for the new service in Ukraine, Kangina cited a number of indicators. In particular, cashless transactions in the country account for almost 50% of card transactions with P2P transfers accounting for over 41% of them. What is more, every third Ukrainian uses remittance services.

"Ukraine ranked second among all banking users – those who have bank accounts – in terms of mobile apps use. Owners of smartphones account for 96% of such users. The share of Ukrainians who have already installed messengers is 77%," Kangina said, referring to a study related to certain countries in Central and Eastern Europe.

The service is technically ready to provide cross-border money transfers with the participation of users from different countries, but this requires the introduction of amendments to legislation to remotely identify customers and prevent money laundering.
