"If we analyze the trend of payments in Ukraine, half of all payments in the country will be made via smartphones by the end of 2021. The indicators are growing exponentially," she told UNIAN on December 3.

Ukrainians' concerns about the security of such payments can be reduced if banks, the state, and payment systems provide relevant training to users.

"Biometrics – the identification of a person using a fingerprint or face image – is the safest technology. This is not a pin code that can be stolen, but personal data that cannot be forged. The level of such fraud in Ukraine is record low even if compared with European countries," the expert added.

According to Platonova, special attention should be paid to social engineering, when people themselves disclose personal data to scammers by phone or via the Internet.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the number of payment cards in Ukraine in January-September 2019 grew by 9%, to 64.7 million, while active payment cards accounted for 60%.
