Ukraine's Cabinet appoints acting head of Energoatom

The Ukrainian government on November 27 decided to dismiss President of Energoatom Yuriy Nedashkovsky.

MP from Ukraine's European Solidarity Party Oleksiy Honcharenko has said the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Director General of Rivne Nuclear Power Plant Pavlo Pavlyshyn as acting President of Ukraine's national nuclear energy generating company Energoatom.

"The Cabinet of Ministers has approved that Pavlo Yaremovych Pavlyshyn (Director General of the Separate Enterprise Rivne Nuclear Power Plant) will temporarily act as President of the State Enterprise 'National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom,'" he wrote on Facebook on December 4.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on November 27, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers decided to dismiss Yuriy Nedashkovsky from the post of President of the state-owned nuclear power plants operator, Energoatom.

According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk, the decision was initiated by Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel.

UNIAN memo. Energoatom is Ukraine's largest electricity producer, accounting for about 50% of the country's overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of the country's nuclear power plants.

Ukraine ranks seventh globally in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants across Ukraine with a total of 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe's largest.
