The date of a new meeting has not been approved yet, the ministry told UNIAN on December 5.

The energy ministry also did not disclose the cause behind the cancellation of the negotiations.

As UNIAN reported earlier, a summit of the heads of state in the Normandy format (Ukraine, Germany, France, and the Russian Federation) is scheduled for December 9, where gas issues are also expected to be discussed.

Earlier, Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine Oleksiy Orzhel said that the next round of trilateral gas negotiations between Ukraine, Russia and the European Union was expected to take place on December 5.

The most recent trilateral negotiations on gas transit through the territory of Ukraine from January 1, 2020, were held in Brussels on October 28.

The previous meeting was on September 19.

The existing transit contract between Ukraine and Russia's Gazprom was signed in 2009 for 10 years. Once it expires (from 2020), the Russian monopoly said it would minimize gas transit shipments through the Ukrainian territory.
