Head of the Financial, Tax and Customs Policy Committee Danylo Getmantsev said then that the bill, which had been submitted to parliament for passing in a package with the draft law on the unbundling of Naftogaz, is purely technical.

On October 31, the Verkhovna Rada passed the bill on the unbundling of the gas transmission system from Naftogaz. The document entered into force after it was signed by the president.

Earlier, Naftogaz of Ukraine approved the market value of the assets used in the gas transmission at UAH 3.2 billion (US$134.9 million). The company also instructed the state-owned operator of Ukraine's gas transmission system (GTS), Ukrtransgaz, to transfer the assets to the newly established Ukrainian GTS Operator.
