Estonian railway company GoRail, which operates trains on the Tallinn-Moscow and St. Petersburg routes, has announced the termination of passenger traffic to Russia starting from May 18.
GoRail earlier announced the termination of passenger traffic to Russia. According to the company, the last train from Tallinn to Moscow was on May 17 at 1910, and the last train from Moscow to Tallinn on May 18 at 1805.
According to the press service of OJSC Russian Railways, railway communication has been temporarily suspended at Estonia’s initiative. The Estonian company said it was taking the decision because of a decline in passenger traffic.
"This is a commercial decision of the Estonian carrier. Currently, a joint working group of representatives of the Russian railways and representatives of Baltic railway administrations are in talks to search marketing solutions to maintain rail routes with Estonia," a representative of Russian railways stated.
