Construction of bridge across Kerch Strait to start in occupied Crimea

SGM (Stroygazmntazh), the largest construction company for gas pipelines and electrical power supply lines in Russia, which is owned by a Russian businessman Arkadiy Rotenberg, has been appointed as the general contractor for the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait.

It noted that construction work is also to be carried out simultaneously on the coast of Krasnodar Krai in Russia and the Tuzla Spit.

The completion of the construction project is schedule for not later than December 2018.

The 19-kilometer bridge will pass across the Tuzla Spit and will include a road with two lanes in each direction and two railway tracks.

According to Holger Svensson, one of the leading bridge designers in Germany, the costs of construction work for Russia will amount to about EUR 8 billion and take at least six years to be completed. He said the plans of the Russian authorities regarding the time it would take to complete the project timing were too ambitious.
