Ukraine's nuclear power giant generates more electricity than planned in 11 months

It also sold more power to consumers than it was planned.

National Nuclear Energy Generating Company (NNEGC) Energoatom, which operates all working nuclear power plants in Ukraine, generated 74.889 billion kWh of electricity in January-November 2019, which was 1.065 billion kWh, or 1.4% more than the plan.

In the 11 months, the company's power plants supplied 70.340 billion kWh of electricity, which is 1.214 billion kWh more than the plan, the company said in a report. The target for the supply of electricity was met by 101.8%.

The enterprise's capacity utilization factor in the 11 months of 2019 was 67.3%, which is 1.5% down year-over-year.

During the reporting period, Energoatom accounted for 53.6% of the country's total electricity output. "For the 11 months of 2019, some UAH 12.328 billion in taxes was paid to the budgets of all levels, while insurance payments totaled UAH 2.343 billion," it said.

UNIAN memo. Energoatom is Ukraine's largest electricity producer, accounting for about 50% of the country's overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of the country's nuclear power plants.

Ukraine ranks seventh globally in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants across Ukraine with a total of 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe's largest.
