The shadow economy in Ukraine in 2018 accounted for 47.2% of GDP.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk says his government's goal is to drastically reduce the share of the shadow economy in the near-term outlook.
"The share of the shadow economy for me personally is a measure of the effectiveness of our work," he said on television on December 16.

"Now, according to various estimates, it makes almost half of the entire economy. Naturally, we wanted it to be near zero or no more than 5%. But now, in the short term, we want it to shrink by least 66-75% the least," he said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the shadow economy in Ukraine in 2018 accounted for 47.2% of the official gross domestic product (GDP) compared to 46.8% in 2017.
