"Bidders in the concession tender are port operators from Ukraine and Qatar. Two of the three bidders are pre-qualified for participation in the next [tender] stage. As for the third one, the tender committee has not yet made a decision as the company submitted its application on the last day when bids were accepted," the ministry's press service said on December 17.

In particular, the bids were submitted by Qatar-based QTerminals W.L.L. and a syndicate of Mykolaiv-based PETERS Maritime Agency and Mykoaiv-based Protto-Gasolin LLC. The third bidder's name is not disclosed.

Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii says US$66 million in investment and at least US$3 million in government investment, as well as US$3 million in annual concession payments are expected to be received from the implementation of the Olvia concession project in the next 35 years.

"The next stage, the evaluation of the bids and the selection of the winner, will be held on January 21, 2020," the press service added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's Infrastructure Ministry on September 12 announced tenders for the transfer of assets of the state-owned enterprises Olvia stevedoring company and Kherson Commercial Sea Port, as well as those of the state-run Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) to management on concession terms. The Olvia port's concession is to last 35 years, while that of Kherson Commercial Sea Port 30 years.
