A total of 31 sugar refineries were in operation in Ukraine as of December 18.
Ukrainian sugar refineries have produced 1.38 million tonnes of sugar since September 1, 2019, when the current sugar production season began with the launch of a sugar refinery in Lviv region's Radekhiv district.

"As of December 6, some 1,380,100 tonnes of sugar had been produced and 9.14 million tonnes of sugar beets had been processed," the press service of the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (NASU) Ukrtsukor said on December 18.
As reported, 31 sugar refineries out of the planned 32 were in operation in Ukraine as of December 18.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian enterprises during the sugar refining season of marketing year 2018-2019 reduced sugar output by 15%, to 1.7 million tonnes.
As of December 10, Ukrainian farmers harvested 9.8 million tonnes of sugar beets from 220,000 hectares (the target was fulfilled), according to the Ukrainian Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ministry's press service.
