The war in the east of Ukraine is not a hindrance to investment, the new President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, Andy Hunder, said in an interview with Ukrainian news magazine Novoe Vremya published on Thursday.
"If the war does not spread to other regions, there will be no hindrance for investment," Hunder said.
"There are examples of countries that are in a state of armed conflict, but their economy is growing - for example Israel. So, I don’t think we can blame the war," he said.
According to Hunder, Ukraine should initiate a dialogue with investors and the business community, explaining what is happening in the country.
"For example, recently I attended the presentation of a new plane at the Antonov [aircraft] factory. Neither the president nor the prime minister visited the opening. Why not? If the country is launching a new aircraft, you have to talk about this loudly," Hunder said.
"The new government has started listening to business, but the next important stage is to start paying attention and doing something. If the investors see that those in power are people from business, they will believe that they can do business here," he said.
