Most of the supplies came from Russia.
Ukraine in January-October 2019 imported fuel assemblies, that is, fuel for nuclear power plants, totaling $300.015 million, according to the State Statistics Service.
During the reporting period, 188.92 tonnes of nuclear fuel worth $171.63 million was purchased in Russia (the share of Russian fuel in the total procurement structure stood at 57.2%), and another 176.19 tonnes worth $128.39 million was bought in Sweden (42.7%).

As UNIAN reported earlier, in April 2014, SE Energoatom concluded an agreement with Westinghouse, which produces fuel at its plant in Sweden, as part of the diversification of sources of nuclear fuel supplies for Ukrainian nuclear plants and the reduction of dependence on a single source, the Russian TVEL.
In January 2018, Energoatom and Westinghouse extended the supply agreement until 2025. To date, Swedish fuel is used at the Zaporizhia and Yuzhnoukrainska NPPs.
According to the State Statistics Service, in 2018, some 335.2 tonnes of nuclear fuel worth $374.2 million was purchased in Russia (the share of Russian fuel was 71.6%), while 211.4 tonnes worth $148.5 million was bought in Sweden (28.4%).
In 2017, $ 368.9 million worth of nuclear fuel was purchased in Russia (69.2%), and worth $164.5 million (30.8%) in Sweden.
UNIAN memo. SE NAEC Energoatom is the largest producer of electricity in Ukraine with a share of about 50% in the total electricity production of Ukraine. Energoatom is is responsible for the safe operation of all nuclear power plants in the country. Ukraine ranks world's seventh in terms of the installed capacity of nuclear power units, all using VVER-type reactors. There are four nuclear power plants with 15 power units in Ukraine, one of which, Zaporizhia NPP, with six power units with the total capacity awn 6,000 MW is the largest in Europe.
