Decline in industrial output accelerates to 7.5% in Ukraine

Output slid 4.6% against the previous month.

The decline in industrial output in Ukraine in November 2019 accelerated to 7.5% on year, without taking into account the adjustments for the calendar day effect, after falling 5% in October, the State Statistics Service reports.

The agency says industrial output in November fell by 6.9% in annual terms, taking into account such adjustment.

Against the previous month, industrial output slid by 4.6% (without calendar day effect adjustments) and by 1.9%  (with the adjustments).

According to the State Statistics Service, the largest decline in annual terms was recorded in the production of computers, electronic and optical products (25.7%), motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers(15.4%), metallurgy (14.2%), engineering (12.7%), supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning (12%).

The growth in annual terms was recorded only in two sectors: the chemical industry (34%), production of furniture and related products (1.5%).

The State Statistics Service recalled that the data were provided without taking into account the occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the decline in industrial output in Ukraine in October 2019 in annual terms accelerated to 5% after sliding by 1.1% in September.

In 2018, industrial output grew by 1.1% after sliding 0.1% in 2017.
