President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed into law a bill amending the Law on the Electricity Market, which, in particular, allows NAEC Energoatom to sell 15% of electricity in the competitive market (against the previous share of 10%).

Also, all electricity imports from Russia under bilateral agreements have been banned, according to the President's Office.

The press service notes that the document aims to ensure proper control of electricity prices in conditions of insufficient competition.

At the same time, the government has the right to lift the ban for a certain period to avoid an emergency in Ukraine's unified energy grid.

It is noted that settling the issues of operation of cogeneration plants under the new model of the electricity market is a prerequisite for ensuring stable central heating in Ukrainian households.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on December 4, the Verkhovna Rada adopted BIll No. 2233 on changes in the electric energy market.
