Ukraine to lose US$31.3 mln over Russian sanctions – media

Sanctions will affect the market of industrial medical products the most, with losses estimated at US$16.1 million, as well the market of central heating boilers (US$8.7 million).

Ukraine will lose $31.2 million in the market and 1.3% of current exports to the Russian Federation after the introduction of Russian sanctions.

In particular, Russia has banned the exports of paper and paperboard for recycling to Ukraine, which is 0.4% of the import of all Russian goods into Ukraine (US$21.4 million). Ukraine had been receiving almost half of these goods from the Russian Federation, according to the Ukrainian online publication Ekonomichna Pravda, referring to the text of the document.

The goods prohibited from being imported to Russia include: heating pads, medical tubes and ducts, plaits, corn starch, glucose, fructose, boilers and central heating radiators, and parts of pumps.

Russian ban on corn starch, glucose and fructose imports will not affect domestic producers as there have been no such exports over the nine months of 2019, according to the State Statistics Service.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Russia is ready to consider lifting sanctions against Ukraine if there is a corresponding initiative from Kyiv.
