In 2019, the hryvnia rate strengthened confidently, while no expert predicted such a scenario, the NV Business magazine wrote on January 3.
In particular, Senior Analyst at Raiffeisen Bank Aval Mykhailo Rebryk predicts a modest increase in the financial account surplus amid peak payments on public debt. As a result, the hryvnia rate is likely to return to the range of UAH 24−25 per the U.S. dollar with possible weakening to UAH 26 by late 2020.
Yevheniya Akhtyrko, an analyst of Ukrainian investment company Concorde Capital, says the average rate of the national currency may be UAH 25 per dollar in 2020.
Director of the Strategic Management Department at Pivdennyi Bank Dmytro Chichkalenko foresees a smooth devaluation of the hryvnia to UAH 26.50 per dollar at the end of 2020.
