Provisions related to the functioning of gambling exclusively at five-star hotels remain in force.
Head of the Financial, Tax and Customs Policy Committee Danylo Getmantsev says Ukraine's national budget in 2020 may receive UAH 4.5 billion, or US$188.8 million, due to the legalization of gambling in the country.
"The Finance Ministry estimates that the state is expected to receive UAH 4.5 billion from gambling this year. The bill [on the legalization of gambling] will not be of benefit to institutions that are operating illegally today," he told Radio NV on January 9.

At the same time, the provisions of the relevant bill related to the functioning of gambling exclusively at five-star hotels remain in force, Getmantsev added.
As UNIAN reported, on December 19, 2019, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, failed to vote for draft law No. 2285 in the first reading that legalizes gambling in Ukraine and allows casinos to operate as part of five-star hotels only.
Following that, the Cabinet of Ministers ordered the police and the Tax Service of Ukraine to shut down gambling establishments operating under the guise of lotteries.
On January 3, lawmakers tabled a bill in parliament to amend the Tax Code of Ukraine to reduce the tax rate on gambling revenue from 18% to 10% of total income. At the same time, it is assumed that gambling money will not be subject to individual income and war taxes.
