"There are some initiatives regarding heating, central heating, that will help the public to pay more appropriate tariffs, being optimized. But the National Commission sees no sources for gas optimization," Vovk said.

Furthermore, according to Vovk, the National Commission has begun negotiations, on behalf of Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, with a number of international companies on carrying out an audit of gas tariffs.

"We have met with them [international auditors] and discussed what actions are required, and a number of procedures," Vovk said.
