Registration of new entrepreneurs is one of the indicators of economic development.
The number of individual entrepreneurs in Ukraine decreased by 15% in 2019.
"In the past year, 312,211 new individual entrepreneurs were registered in Ukraine, which was 15% down from the previous year," the press service of OpenDataBot, a business data registration monitoring service, wrote on January 13.
It is noted that on average, 5,500 companies and 26,000 entrepreneurs were registered monthly.
Some 30,000 entrepreneurs, the largest number throughout the year, were registered in September, against 35,000 and 60,000 in September and October 2018, respectively, the report said.
The statistics went downward with just over 15,000 new individual entrepreneurs registered in December 2019 against almost 20,000 on year.

This dynamic was caused primarily by the adoption of a number of new laws: on cash transaction registers, on de-shadowing of settlements in trade and services, on collection and accounting of single social security tax, and on submission of unified reports on single social security tax and individual income tax.
"Registration of new entrepreneurs is one of the indicators of economic development. If new companies and entrepreneurs aren't registering in Ukraine, this means that Ukrainians are afraid to set up businesses, therefore, they move into the shadows," the press service quoted founder of OpenDataBot, Oleksiy Ivankin, as saying.
A total of 1,876,604 individual entrepreneurs were operating in Ukraine as of January 1, 2020, the report said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on September 20, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, passed a draft law that obliged entrepreneurs to use software cash registers along with traditional ones, as well as those of 2-4 categories to use cash registers and issue fiscal checks to customers.
