"There are media reports about an increase in the salaries of Members of Parliament to UAH 100,000 and even UAH 150,000 (US$6,268)," he said at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on January 14.

"I've just addressed the Administrative Office and they've given me complete information: the MPs' salaries were subject to indexation, but not to the levels reported by the media – about UAH 100,000 and UAH 150,000," he added.

However, the speaker failed to disclose the exact amount of the lawmakers' pay rise.

The indexation is associated with an increase in the cost of living, he added.
