Ukraine exports over 32 mln tonnes of grain since July 1

Ukrainian farmers have already shipped 15.1 million tonnes of wheat abroad.

Ukrainian agribusinesses exported 32.08 million tonnes of grain from July 1, 2019, the start of the 2019-2020 marketing year (MY), to January 10, 2020, which was 7.8 million tonnes up from the relevant period of MY 2018-2019.

In particular, Ukraine exported 15.1 million tonnes of wheat, 3.8 million tonnes of barley, 12.8 million tonnes of maize, and 5,000 tonnes of rye, the Ukrainian Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ministry's press service reported on January 13.

Over the period under review, agrarians also shipped 197,000 tonnes of flour from wheat and other types of grain to foreign customers, which was 68,500 tonnes up against the relevant period of MY 2018-2019, it said.

Ukrainian farmers harvested 75 million tonnes of grain in 2019, of which 54 million tonnes will be exported to foreign markets, according to the ministry.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the yield of grain was 70.1 million tonnes in 2018.

Ukrainian agribusinesses in MY 2018-2019 exported 49.7 million tonnes of grain, which was a record high over Ukraine's independence.
