NBU lets official hryvnia strengthen to UAH 24.26 to U.S. dollar on Jan 22

The four-year maximum was fixed at UAH 23.26 per U.S. dollar on December 26.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on January 21 set the official forex rate at UAH 24.26 to the U.S. dollar, which made the country's national currency stronger by seven kopiykas.

The Central Bank fixed the following official forex rates of the hryvnia against key foreign currencies for January 22:

US$100 will be traded for UAH 2,425.86 (UAH 2,432.57 as of January 21);

EUR 100 will be traded for UAH 2,696.95 (UAH 2,695.65 as of January 21).

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's national currency in November 2019 strengthened by 3.4% against the U.S. dollar and by 13.4% in the 11 months of 2019, to UAH 23.97 per dollar. The hryvnia continued getting stronger in December until its four-year maximum set at UAH 23.26 per dollar on December 26.

However, the National Bank let the official hryvnia weaken on December 27, 2019, for the first time over the month, and this trend continued in early 2020.
