The Cabinet of Ministers on December 27 passed a bill on labor, which is designed to preserve and expand social rights of employees.
Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Tymofiy Mylovanov says the bill on labor developed by the Cabinet of Ministers and forwarded to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, for consideration, provides that an employer will be able to dismiss employees on their own initiative only on the grounds set in the employment contract.
"We suggest that employers be predictable and consistent in their relations with employees. Grounds for dismissal [of an employee] at the initiative of an employer may be those specified in the employment contract they sign when registering the employment relationship! No fabrication or manipulation in work relations," the minister wrote on Facebook on January 22.

According to Mylovanov, the range of grounds for dismissal of employees at an employer's demand is so wide in the current Labor Code that any of the latter's whims can be easily adjusted to fit at least one of them. At the same time, the new bill on labor proposes mandatory financial compensation by employers if they initiate the dismissal," the minister added.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers on December 27 passed a bill on labor, which is designed to preserve and expand social rights of employees, increase the number of legal jobs, provide equal opportunities for men and women, raise employees' incomes, and harmonize Ukrainian legislation with the European one.
According to Mylovanov, the draft law strengthens the rights of employees in comparison with the current relevant legislation.
