The Ukrainian Agribusiness Club Association (UCAB) says Ukrainian farmers in almost seven months of the current marketing year (MY, July 2019-June 2020) exported 15.6 million tonnes of wheat as of January 27, which was 30,000 tonnes up from the indicator reported in MY 2018-2019.

At the same time, the country's wheat production is becoming dependent on relevant exports.

"In total, the dynamics of wheat production and exports in Ukraine over the past decade, despite the strengthening of the crop's potential, indicate a decrease in domestic consumption of wheat (mainly as feed or forage) and the dependence of the industry on exports," the UCAB's press service wrote on Facebook on January 28.

The yield of wheat in Ukraine in 2019 was 28.9 million tonnes. So, half of the harvest has already been shipped abroad, the press service added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian farmers harvested 75 million tonnes of grain in 2019, of which 54 million tonnes will be exported to foreign markets, according to Ukraine's Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ministry.

As of January 27, Ukrainian agribusinesses shipped 35.03 million tonnes of grain abroad.

The country in MY 2018-2019 exported 49.7 million tonnes of grain, which was a record high over Ukraine's independence.
