Viber: Almost half of its users in Ukraine under 34 years old – media

The application is installed on 96% of smartphones in Ukraine.

Developers of the Viber messenger have analyzed the use of the application in Ukraine in 2019, noting a great share of young users.

"It is significant that the application has a fairly young audience, as almost half of the users are not older than 34 years," the Ukrainian IT news portal itc.ua reported on January 28.

Founded in 2010, Viber has become one of the most popular communications services over the decade. In Ukraine, Viber has been in the lead for several years in terms of demand. The application is installed on 96% of smartphones in Ukraine, according to a study by the Kantar agency.

In particular, more than half of all Ukrainian users are women (55%), while men account for 45% (10% down). Viber experts also note a growth in its young audience. Today, just over 33% of Viber users are in the age between 25-34, while those aged 18 to 24 account for almost 16%.

Kyiv residents account for 14% in terms of the number of messages sent, while those of Lviv for 5%, Kharkiv for 4% and Dnipro for 2%, while the ranking in terms of number of Viber calls for free is the following: Kyiv (14%), Lviv (4.5%), Kharkiv (4%), Dnipro and Zaporizhia (2% each).

Nine out of 10 smartphone owners in Ukraine install Viber (96%), with 84% in Android and 15% in iOS. In 2019, Mastercard and Viber launched the Moneytou service in Ukraine, which allows transferring funds via the messenger without being aware of the recipient's card number.

Moreover, a built-in sticker editor is available in the messenger, which allows creating personal and general sticker packs on your own.

Ukraine's State Migration Service also launched a Viber bot that manages to "stand in line" for visitors.
