Ukraine has harvested a record grain crop in 2019 at 75.08 million tonnes, the State Statistics Service said, confirming data provided by the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade, and Agriculture.
The gross grain harvest exceeded the previous year's figures by 7.2%, while the average yield stood at 49.1 c/ha against 47.4 c/ha in the previous year.
Farmers harvested 28.3 million tonnes (+ 15%) of wheat, 35.8 million tonnes (+ 0.1%) of maize, and 8.9 million tonnes (+ 21.2%) of barley.

At the same time, the gross harvest of oats amounted to 0.3 million tonnes (+ 0.8%), rye – to 0.3 million tonnes (-15%), buckwheat – to 0.1 million tonnes (-37.9%), legumes – to 0.7 million tonnes (-25.5%), and peas - to 0.6 million tonnes (-26.2%).
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade, and Agriculture said the 2019 harvest in Ukraine was 75.1 million tonnes, which is 4 million tonnes over the figure reported for 2018.
It is expected that 54 million tonnes of the 2019 crop will be exported to foreign markets.
