Introducing the bill, Deputy Minister of Social Policy Vitaliy Muzychenko emphasized that the agreement would allow Ukrainians to officially work in Lithuania and vice versa.

"The ratification will create an opportunity for official employment of Ukrainian citizens in Lithuania and improve the financial condition of Ukrainian families. The agreement will also help attract highly qualified specialists and employees from Lithuania to Ukraine," he said.

The agreement will contribute to social and pension benefits for workers from both Ukraine and Lithuania, said head of the subcommittee of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on EU Integration Olena Vintonyak.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine and Lithuania in December 2018 signed an agreement on the protection of labor migrants and on the fight against illegal employment.

This agreement was signed to facilitate friendly relations between the countries and legislatively safeguard social and labor rights of Ukrainian citizens employed in Lithuania and, accordingly, those of Lithuanian citizens employed in Ukraine.
