Monetary base and money supply down in Ukraine

The monetary base in Ukraine in May decreased by 0.2% - to UAH 329.6 billion, while money supply dropped by 1.3%, to UAH 967.6 billion, according to data released on the Web site of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

Since the beginning of the year the monetary base has decreased by 1.1%, while the money supply for this period has risen by 1.1%, the regulator reported.

The volume of cash outside banks decreased in May by 0.9%, while since the beginning of the year the indicator grew by 1.1% - to UAH 283.4 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the monetary base in April decreased by 0.5% - to UAH 330.4 billion, the money supply was down by 4.7%, to UAH 976.3 billion, while the volume of cash outside banks increased over the period by 0.4%, to UAH 286.0 billion. 

In 2014, money supply increased by UAH 44.851 billion, or by 4.9%, to UAH 953.846 billion, and the monetary base was up by 8.5%, or by UAH 26.055 billion, to UAH 333.194 billion.
