Ukraine and Iceland have agreed on a temporary "open skies" regime, which excludes any restrictions on flights and routes.

According to the report of the Ukrainian government performance in 2019, an agreement was reached at the level of aviation authorities of both countries on establishing a temporary regime for the operation of aviation routes until an agreement is concluded on air traffic. This agreement fixes the absence of any restrictions on the frequency of scheduled flights between Ukraine and Iceland, the number of air carriers that can be assigned on routes, as well as on departure and arrival points in the territories of both countries.

The government's report also reported on an agreement between Ukraine and the Netherlands on the launch of regular flights on the Lviv - Amsterdam and Kherson - Amsterdam routes. However, the document does not specify the date for their launch.

As UNIAN reported, for several years Ukraine has been negotiating with the European Union on a common aviation space that would allow Ukrainian and European airlines operating freely in the European Union and Ukraine. At the same time, signing the agreement is impossible without resolving the dispute between Great Britain and Spain regarding Gibraltar, while Ukraine is not entitled to independently take any unilateral decisions in this regard.
