Acting CEO of NPC Ukrenergo Vsevolod Kovalchuk has announced his resignation.

"As of today, I stop working as chairman of the board of Ukrenergo. It wasn't an easy decision – I had several months to think it over," he wrote on Facebook on February 26.

According to Kovalchuk, he was in charge of the backbone operator of Ukraine's power grids for over four years, transforming it from a "typical, yet specialized, Ukrainian state-owned enterprise into a modern company, which should soon enter the large family of European transmission system operators."

NPC Ukrenergo is a power company responsible for operational and technological control of the country's integrated power grids and electricity transmission via trunk power grids from generating plants to the distribution networks of the regional electricity suppliers (oblenergos).

The company's network includes eight regional power systems, covering the entire territory of Ukraine and employing over 8,000.

Every year, Ukrenergo's trunk power grids transmit over 110 billion kWh of electricity.
