Ukraine's state budget deficit grows to US$3.3 bln – Finance Ministry

On March 20, 2020, the ministry will publicly report on the implementation of the state budget in 2019.

Ukraine's Finance Ministry increased the state budget deficit in 2019 to UAH 81 billion (US$3.3 billion), whereas earlier this figure was UAH 78.05 billion (US$3.1 billion).

"The Law of Ukraine 'On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2019' defines the annual limit of the state budget deficit in the amount of UAH 91.1 billion (US$3.7 billion). Taking into account the amendments to the plan for the special fund, the annual target indicator of the state budget deficit amounted to UAH 99.6 billion (US$4 billion). In fact, the state budget in 2019 was implemented with a deficit of UAH 81 billion, which corresponds to 81.3% of the annual target with changes," according to the report on the implementation of the state budget in 2019 published in the government's official newspaper Uriadovy Kurier.

It is also reported the general fund of the state budget was implemented with an actual deficit of UAH 68.8 billion (US$2.8 billion), which is within the approved annual deficit in the amount of UAH 69.6 billion (US$2.8 billion).

According to the report, in 2019, the net inflow of foreign direct investment amounted to US$2.5 billion, of which 75% were directed to the real sector.

The ministry also specified other indicators. In particular, as of December 31, 2019, the government debt amounted to US$74.4 billion, of which state external debt amounted to US$39.4 billion, and government domestic debt was US$35 billion.

Government-guaranteed debt amounted to US$10 billion in late 2019, and the total amount of state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine amounted to US$84.4 billion.

On March 20, 2020, the ministry will publicly report on the implementation of the state budget in 2019.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the state budget of Ukraine for January 2020 received UAH 50.7 billion in revenues, which is 7% lower than in the same period last year and 21.5% lower than the target figure.
