Ukrainian Finance Minister Ihor Umansky has held a meeting with IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Mr. Goesta Ljungman, where he said the Ukrainian government would continue its proactive efforts to ensure that the IMF launches for Ukraine a new extended fund facility.

As reported on the ministry's website, the officials also discussed the current progress and further steps of bilateral cooperation, which is an unconditional priority for Ukraine.

"The IMF's extended fund facility is important to support financial stability and implement structural reforms in Ukraine, which is a priority for the government. Together with our IMF counterparts, we continue to work actively to have the program started," Umansky said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's authorities and the IMF staff in December 2019 reached an agreement on policies to underpin a new three-year US$5.5 billion EFF, while the Fund's Executive Board is yet to approve the program.

According to the results of the IMF mission on February 20-28, the Fund has made good progress in talks with the Ukrainian authorities to accelerate economic growth and ensure stability in Ukraine.
