Ukraine and the European Commission have signed an agreement on allocating EUR 55 million for the development of small- and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine, according to the statement of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius posted on his page in Twitter.
"We signed an agreement on provision of EUR 55 million to support small- and medium-sized enterprises through the establishment of 15 regional offices," he wrote.
The EC Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, who signed the agreement with Ukraine, noted on his page in Twitter the importance of Ukraine’s continued focus on the structural reforms.
"Pleased to sign financial agreement for EU program of EUR 55 million supporting the development of SMEs. The economic reforms are crucial for the recovery of Ukraine's economy, for creating jobs plus investor-friendly business climate," Hahn wrote.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the EU intends to allocate EUR 2 billion to Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova for development of projects in small and medium-sized businesses as a part of implementing agreements on deep and comprehensive free trade areas with the EU in these countries.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development plans to implement in Ukraine this year 130 projects for small and medium-sized businesses, including the launch of a program for women in business, with the support of the European Union, and an export promotion program supported by the United States.
