The U.S. dollar suddenly tumbled against the hryvnia, Ukraine's national currency, to UAH 26.60, in Kyiv's currency exchange booths on the morning of Friday, March 13.

The euro also lost in value against the hryvnia, to UAH 29.75, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar trades for UAH 25.90 on average, while the euro – for UAH 28.85.

As UNIAN reported earlier, there has been an increased demand for currency this week, which is formed by Ukrainian companies. However, the foreign currency purchases by non-residents to withdraw from domestic government loan bonds market is not yet significant, according to the NBU.

On the morning of Thursday, March 12, the U.S. dollar grew in value to UAH 26.70 in Kyiv's currency exchange booths, while quotations of the hryvnia against the U.S. dollar in the interbank currency market dropped to UAH 25.83/25.85 per dollar.

The regulator sold US$270 million on the interbank foreign exchange market on Tuesday, March 10, US$350 million on Wednesday, and over US$220 million on Thursday to stabilize the hryvnia.
