As of March 11, gas reserves in the country's underground storage facilities stood at 15.808 billion cubic meters (bcm), while the USFs were filled by 51%.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on November 2, 2019, Ukraine stopped injecting gas into the underground storage facilities and began pumping it out for the 2019-2020 heating season.

By the start of the heating season, Ukraine had accumulated 21.76 bcm of gas in its USFs, which was a record high natural gas stock over a decade.

On January 1, 2020, the functions of the country's operator of trunk gas pipelines were transferred from the state-owned Ukrtransgaz to LLC Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, which was transferred to Magistralni Gazoprovody Ukrainy's management subordinated to Ukraine's Finance Ministry.

At the same time, the operation of 12 underground gas storages with a total storage capacity of about 31 bcm remained the asset of Ukrtransgaz, which is wholly owned by National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine.
