Ukraine's official hryvnia continues weakening, set at UAH 26.52 to U.S. dollar for March 17

The official forex rate against the euro for Tuesday is fixed at UAH 29.52 per euro.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on March 16 set the official forex rate for Tuesday, March 17, at UAH 26.52 to the U.S. dollar, which let the country's national currency weaken by 43 kopiykas.

The hryvnia became weaker after it had lost 23 kopiykas in value against U.S. dollar on Friday, March 13, according to the NBU website.

The official forex rate against the euro for Tuesday is fixed at UAH 29.52 per euro – the hryvnia lost 53 kopiykas in value since Friday.

Forex booths in Kyiv on the morning of Monday, March 16, sold U.S. dollars for UAH 26.90 to the dollar, while euros – for UAH 29.95.

Trade on Ukraine's interbank forex market at 15:00 on March 16, closed at UAH 26.60/26.64 per U.S. dollar, which was 42 kopiykas lower than on the previous day.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) spent US$981.6 million from reserves to support the hryvnia, Ukraine's national currency, on March 10-13.

The regulator sold US$130.5 million at a currency auction on March 16 alone.

There has been an increased demand for currency on Ukraine's forex market, which is formed by Ukrainian companies. However, the foreign currency purchases by non-residents to withdraw from domestic government loan bonds market is not yet significant, according to the NBU.
