Ukraine’s gross external debt decreases in first quarter of 2015

Ukraine’s gross external debt decreased by 0.27%, or by $340 million in the first quarter of 2015, amounting to $125.967 billion compared to the beginning of last year.

According to the NBU, the general government sector accounted for $34.608 billion, or 27.47% of the gross external debt at the end of Q1, banks - $17.104 billion, or 13.58%, monetary authorities regulation - $5.810 billion, or 4.61% of the debt, other sectors - $58.816 billion, or 46.69% of the debt, with direct investment (intercompany debt) making up $9.629 billion, or 7.64%.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the gross external debt of Ukraine decreased by 11.1% based on the 2014 year-end value, or by $15.772 billion, compared to $126.307 billion at the beginning of the year.
