Naftogaz expected to reduce net loss by half in 2015, Energoatom to generate profit

The largest Ukrainian state-owned energy holding, Naftogaz Ukrainy, is projected to reduce its net loss by more than two times in 2015 compared to 2014 – from UAH 85.045 billion to UAH 40.331 billion.

The forecast was given among projections for 30 enterprises in the public sector with major fiscal risks, which was approved by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine on June 17, 2015.

According to the document, the operator of all operating nuclear power plants in Ukraine - the state company Energoatom, which generates about 50% of the country's electricity - is projected to make a net profit of UAH 1.154 billion in 2015, whereas in 2014 the company saw a net loss of UAH 6.494 billion.

Also, as noted in the document, the net profit of state company Ukrenergo, the national operator of the power system of Ukraine, is forecast at UAH 35.112 million in 2015, against a net loss of UAH 1.199 billion in the previous year.

The Eastern Mining and Processing Plant, the only Ukrainian uranium ore miner, is projected to generate UAH 26.537 million in net profit at year-end, while in 2014 the company saw a net loss of UAH 233.599 million.

Ukrhydroenergo, the operator of the largest hydroelectric power stations in Ukraine, is projected to increase its net profit by more than two times in 2015 - from UAH 476 million to UAH 1.017 billion compared to the previous year.
