Ukraine has imported 987 million cubic meters of natural gas from Russia and European countries so far in June, according to a statement from state company Ukrtransgaz released on Tuesday.
As noted in the company, since early June Ukraine has imported 595 million cubic meters of natural gas from Europe, which is 34%, or 203 million cubic meters, more than the import volumes from Russia.
"During this period, natural gas was imported from the territory of Slovakia and Hungary, including 544 million cubic meters received via the Slovak gas transport corridor," the company’s statement reads.
Since the beginning of the year Ukraine has imported 6.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Europe, Ukrtransgaz said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn stated that the tripartite talks regarding gas supplies to Ukraine in the format of Ukraine - EU - Russia at the level of energy ministers of Ukraine and Russia in the mediation of the European Commission are scheduled for June 29, 2015.
