Head of the State Property Fund (SPF) of Ukraine Dmytro Sennychenko says national quarantine introduced across the country over the novel coronavirus will not alter plans to conduct large- and small-scale privatization campaigns in 2020.

"We keep preparing large-scale privatization objects for sale in the middle and second half of the year, as planned. We are confidently implementing small- and medium-sized privatization [campaigns], while successful online auctions are being held these days," he wrote on Facebook on March 25.

The Fund met privatization target for 1Q 2020 as early as March 5, the official added.

He says the SPF has created opportunities for remote operation, while relevant procedures have gone digital. The agency is holding online meetings and privatization e-auctions.

"And in these difficult times, we see our task not only in ensuring the functioning of the Fund, but in even better approaches to addressing current and perspective issues, and in even greater efficiency of the decisions made. We clearly realize that filling the budget to some extent depends on the work of the State Property Fund of Ukraine. So, we have no right to halt [the work] under any circumstances," he added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in 2020 it was planned to raise UAH 12 billion (US$432 million) in the national budget from the sale of state-owned enterprises (UAH 6 billion from small- and large-scale privatization campaigns each).
